Jen Carney, owner of Beach Dog Studio, is an artist and graphic designer living in Rye, NH. She lives with her husband, two boys and dog, Ruby — a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. They moved to Rye in 2016 to be closer to family, the mountains, and the ocean. 

“Any day at the beach is a good day,” says Jen, who is a self-claimed beach bum. 

Jen graduated from Colby-Sawyer in 2002 with a degree in Graphic Design. She worked as a Creative Director for a Boston-based creative agency for years, but now spends her time freelancing, painting, framing, going to the beach, and driving kids to sports.

Ruby, her five year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever, is the family’s second “Chessie” —  a large breed known for their love of the water. Jen named her studio after Ruby because they both love the beach more than anyone else.

“A sandy, wet dog is a happy dog. If I’m sun kissed, salty, and sandy, I’m happy, too!” says Jen.

Feeling incredibly lucky to live in Rye, Jen wants to share the beautiful NH seacoast with everyone through her paintings.

“No two sunsets or waves are the same. The colors, tones, and textures are constantly changing. I feel like I’m chasing every moment in my paintings, so I paint fast and move quickly from one painting to the next. I’m never bored or tired of it!”
